Does Anyone Have Experience With a Liquid Diet?

I am thinking of doing some sort of liquid diet. Before you begin lecturing me on how a liquid diet doesn't work and you always gain the weight back, let me explain what I am considering. I would have a smoothie for breakfast. a healthy mid morning snack, a smoothie for lunch with maybe a side of fresh veggies, and then a mid day snack, then a healthy dinner, and a small after dinner snack. I would replace two meals with smoothies. The reason I am wanting to do this is not out of desperation, but out of time issues. In the morning, I am always rushing out the door. A smoothie that I could take in the car with me would help instead of finding some sugary snack when I got to work. At lunch, I pick up my one year old which leaves little time to eat a meal. I could have another smoothie and maybe some veggies or a granola bar for lunch while I am going to get her. Does that sound OK? I don't want to do some fad diet that may cause health issues, extreme hunger, or doesn't teach you the proper way to eat. Has anyone every tried a liquid diet? If so, I would love to hear your successes and tips. Thanks!

  1. Hi! I am new to your blog. Will you be making the smoothie at home or picking it up on the road?
If I do a mid-day workout (meaning I go to the gym during my lunch break at work) I will occasionally pick up a smoothie on my way back to the library. I think I have a mental thing with smoothies, because I am always still hungry after I drink them.
Keep us updated on how this works out for you!

  3. My breakfast each day is an Isagenix protein shake blended with ice & 1/2 banana or other fruit. It's quick and one of the most nutritious (23 vitamins & minerals) meals. When I'm being good, I also have a shake for lunch or dinner too. Helped me lose 45 lbs in 4 months! If you are making your own smoothies twice a day, just make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need.

  4. This sounds like a great plan. I love smoothies and was drinking them a lot for breakfast during the early summer.

  7. I've been away from blogger land for a bit! Oops. I agree with the other comments about being done correctly. And it sounds like your plan was very intelligent. Did you ever do it? How did it work out?
